Graduates of 2016 March for their Diplomas

          The morning of March 31, 2016 was the grand day for the candidates for graduation of CapSU Burias.  The Campus celebrated its 12th Commencement Exercises.

The activity began with the processional of would-be graduates together with their parents/guardians, faculty and staff, department chairs/program coordinators, deans/directors, administrative officials, campus administrator, vice presidents, university president, guests, board of regents, and commencement speaker.  This was followed by a formal program at the Campus Gymnasium.

            Dr. Ludovico C. Olmo Jr., the campus administrator, presented the candidates for graduation to the VP for academic affairs, Dr. Editha C. Alfon, who in turn recommended the candidates for graduation to the University President,  Dr. Editha L. Magallanes, who confirmed their graduation.

            Dr. Ludovico C. Olmo Jr., introduced the commencement speaker, Engr. Roy M. Abaya, ­­­­­­­­­Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture.  In his speech, Abaya congratulated the graduates.  In his words, he said, “You should be proud of yourselves. Why? Because today is the appointed day for you to claim and receive the fruit of your labor. It is just appropriate that you claim the victory now for overcoming all the hardship in order to finish college.”  He also emphasized that education is the key to success.  It is needed in the formation of society, boost the economy, and run the society as a whole.  He stressed the importance of belief and confidence in oneself and that the success of today is just the initiation to the real world. He also mentioned that the graduates must learn to prioritize things and should not give up when faced with failures.  For them to reach their goals, they need to start somewhere.

The Commencement Speaker, Engr. Roy M. Abaya, emphasizes having priorities as a prerequisite to success.
Abaya’s speech was followed by Dr. Editha L. Magallanes’s presentation of the Plaque of Appreciation and token of gratitude to the speaker.

The graduating students received their diplomas and academic hoods from the University President, Dr. Editha L. Magallanes assisted by the Vice Presidents – Dr. Aladino Leccio (Administration and Finance), Dr. Eidtha Alfon (Academic Affairs), and Dr. Pedro Gavino (Research and Extension); the campus administrator, Dr. Ludovico Olmo Jr.; and the deans (Dr. Milagros Potato – College of Education; Dr. Miriam Magallanes – College of Business Administration; and Dr. Ramises Solante – College of Agriculture and Forestry).

The academic medals for outstanding college students were also awarded by the abovementioned officials assisted by the recipients’’ parents.

John King N. Layos, Cum Laude of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, delivered his words of gratitude; while Mary Joy D. Llanda, Magna Cum Laude of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, led the pledge of loyalty. 

Dr. Merilita L. Navarra, Alumni President, inducted fresh graduates to CapSU Alumni Association.
