Sexual harassment, violence against women and children,
hazing activities, bullying inside and outside of schools, and derision and
abuses against persons with disability are among those discussed during a
symposium on January 14, 2016 held at the Campus Gymnasium.
The Supreme Student Council and the
Guidance and Counseling Services joined forces and organized a student
symposium to enrich the awareness of students regarding these issues.
The participants and guests were
welcomed by the OSS Chair, Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, where she pointed out the
purpose of the said event.
The guest speakers for the morning sessions were
introduced by the president of the Supreme Student Council, Thea Lyn D. Salaya,
BSED 3.
Prosec. Melchor V. Ocaso, Associate
Provincial Prosecutor of the Province of Capiz, discussed Anti-Sexual Harassment
Act of 1995 and Anti-Hazing Law. While Prof. Joseph Febhos Magsipoc, former OSS
Director of Capiz State University, talked about Anti-Violence Against Women
and Children Act of 2004.
Various questions were asked by the
students after the discussion during the open forum moderated by Arlyn Joy
Legaspi, SSC Vice-President.
The afternoon session was started by
an animation led by the SSC Officers to uplift the mood of the students. After which, Thea Lyn D. Salaya, SSC
President, introduced the guest speaker, Engr. Efren Linan.

of Capiz State University, talked about the Anti-Bullying Act. His presentation was followed by Prof. Pamela
G. Dionisio, Designated Administrative Officer, who discussed about the Magna
Carta of Persons with Disability.
Questions of students regarding the
topics were entertained by the resource speakers during the open forum
moderated by Louella Louise Cordero, SSC officer.
